Back in the Coop: Craven Field Welcomes Summer Baseball’s Return
Ramseur, NC – The crack of the bat and the cheers of baseball fans will once again echo through the historic Craven Stadium this summer as the Randolph Ropin' Roosters take the field as part of the Old North State League (ONSL). The return of wood bat baseball to Craven Stadium marks a triumphant comeback for a ballpark that holds a special place in North Carolina’s baseball history.
Craven Stadium, a beloved local landmark, first hosted the Old North State League’s inaugural team back in 2018. The league quickly gained a loyal following, with Craven Stadium serving as the flagship field. However, in 2022, the original team took a hiatus to support the growth of local American Legion baseball programs. Now, after three years of dedicated community engagement and the league's rapid expansion, the ONSL is returning to its roots with a new team, a fresh identity, and a revitalized mission to bring premier summer baseball to the region.
The Randolph Ropin' Roosters will be the latest addition to the Old North State League’s roster of 24 collegiate baseball teams. The league has grown significantly since its early days, now encompassing teams from across North Carolina and providing collegiate athletes with a platform to hone their skills and showcase their talents during the summer months. The Roosters’ arrival in Randolph County is a celebration of both tradition and progress, promising fans an exciting season filled with competitive baseball, family-friendly entertainment, and a community-first atmosphere.
The Ropin' Roosters will feature top collegiate players from around the country, all competing with wood bats in the traditional style of the game. Fans can expect a full slate of home games at Craven Stadium, complete with promotions, theme nights, and local partnerships designed to engage the Randolph County community.
The revitalized Craven Stadium will also see several upgrades ahead of the summer season, including improved seating, enhanced fan amenities, and a fresh new look to match the energy of the returning league. These improvements aim to create an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages.
